A Personal Account
This is my GLP-1 weight loss personal story. I am sharing it because there is another way! It is not hopeless.
There was a time when I’d look in the mirror and proudly think, “Damn!” Fast forward a few years, a handful of stress cycles, too many snacks, and suddenly the phrase shifted to, “Damn… what happened?”
I changed my diet, exercised..you name it- I tried it. Nothing was working for me. Near the point of giving up- I decided to have a consultation with a provider and I didn’t sugarcoat anything. ANYTHING!
To be honest, I laid it all out there:
“I just want to see my p**** again.”
A Real Struggle
Listen, it’s a thing. A very real thing. I can’t be the only one who wanted a clear line of sight again — without needing a mirror, a yoga pose, or a search-and-rescue team. I was at the point of despair.

My husband even offered to help me shave at one point. Sweet, but no. That’s a level of teamwork I want to save for when I’m genuinely old enough to distrust a razor. Right then, it felt like Area 51 down there… mysterious, restricted, classified. I wanted independence. No mirror. Without assistance.Zero guesswork.
People laugh when I say this out loud, but let’s be honest — plenty of people feel this way. I’m just willing to admit it.
My GLP-1 Weight Loss Personal Story: The Turning Point
Then came GLP-1 therapy — specifically Tirzepatide. Before this, I was spinning my wheels. Working from home, pandemic burnout, stress, inconsistent motivation… it all added up, quite literally in pounds. I am 5’3 and was 200 lbs.
But on December 5th, everything changed. That was my first Tirzepatide injection.
The Big Questions
- Is it expensive?
In short, yes—unless you have insurance
- Is it worth it?
Abso-f***ing-lutely
What Actually Changed
With lifestyle tweaks and GLP-1 therapy, I started losing weight I honestly didn’t think was possible. It felt like a switch flipped. My appetite dropped. My cravings chilled out. And even when the food tasted amazing, I didn’t feel the need to overdo it.
I also added one simple rule for nighttime eating:
If you can put it in a bowl of water for five minutes and it comes out the same… it’s fair game.
Fruits and veggies? Yes.
Breads, cakes, and anything that behaves like a sponge? Nope.
The Results
The combo worked. I lost 2 pounds then 10 then 29 pounds and kept going.
Updated: I have officially hit my goal weight with a total loss of 60 pounds. I’ve been maintaining it for six months with a tiny maintenance dose and only a 2–3 lb fluctuation. My habits are different. My metabolism is different. I am different.
And yes — “it” is visible again. Though it sounds funny now back then, that frustration was real. Feeling like a stranger to your own body is no joke.
More Than Just Weight Loss
This hasn’t just reshaped my body — it reshaped my confidence. My mood, energy, relationships, routines… everything feels lighter. When you feel good in your skin it seems as though life opens up in ways you don’t expect.
Here’s to progress, renewed confidence, and finally retiring the mirror-only grooming strategy.
